Rejects triumph in $14,500 Final of 2010 ROMP Handicapping League
The Flamboro Rejects were declared the winning team of the 2010 final for the inaugural handicapping league offered by Racetracks Of Ontario Marketing & Promotions (ROMP).
The Flamboro Downs team took the lion’s share of the $14,500 grand prize with a bankroll of $104.00 based on hypothetical $2 win and place wagers over 10 races from Woodbine, Meadowlands and Rideau.
Flamboro Rejects members OJ Poliziani, Bob Smith, and Mike Zess will share $7250. the runners-up are as follows:
• Second: $3625 — Casper’s Connections from Georgian Downs: Robert Reid Jr., Robert Reid Sr., John Stergiou
• Third: $1740 — Chicken Hawks from Western Fair: Scott Wray, Steve Bossence, Jack Wray
• Fourth: $1160 — Condor from Western Fair: Gary, Ann and Chris Revington
• Fifth: $725 — Team Geisel from Hanover: Gene Geisel, Clare Doerr, Frank Girimonte
ROMP extends its appreciation to all players who participated in this league — the first of its kind in Ontario. The group plans to host the second annual ROMP Handicapping league in January of 2011.
